SOMA AT THE FIELD

Intro Workshop :

Soma is a libertarian group experiment using body and play to inspire cooperation. Created in Brazil as an anarchist therapy, by Roberto Freire, Soma games are invitations and challenges to share physical experiences of collaboration, trust, care and responsibility. It’s this social environment, the group dynamic developed by playing body games that stimulate the whole being to engage into the world. After the games, the participants share their experiences, talking about their perceptions, feelings and emotions playing together. The games and talks are the material to work with in the group dynamic and trigger new experiments.

The group will meet roughly fortnightly at the Field for Soma sessions (6 hours long). Schedule to be set by the group formed at the introductory workshop – next session is April 22nd. Sessions can sustain 15/16 people but will be closed to new entrants after 3rd session on May 6th. Email info@thefieldnx.com to book a place FREE

The Field is a social and educational space and political project which resists the logic of capitalism through local political action, radical education, mutual care and solidarity, and commoning and collective service provision. The Field acts as a venue for groups, campaigns, and events that share these principles, and exists as a collective which instigates new projects from the space and in the local area.

Soma at The Field will focus in using Soma’s group process as a laboratory to occupy The Field for active experimentation. Since working in groups is one of the biggest challenges in our competitive and individualistic society, how can we learn from our bodies to create and act in a more cooperative way? And what can we do together in a space calling for collaborators?

  1. Dear Jorge

I and my wife a (trained and practicing) body psychotherapist and perhaps some of her Psychotherapist friends, are interested in joining a group. I understand you were running a closed group, but also realise that the group may need more fire or more new blood or perhaps you can start another group as well or plan some open events. Please it would be good to understand what your plans are so we can try and come and play in your way with Soma therapy.

    All my best Aaron
